Please ensure that the following information is included in the application:

1. Masonic Lodge Name and Lodge Number on the Registry of the Grand Lodge of Alberta.
2. Correct Charity Name and Registered Charity Number.

Application forms cannot be processed without these numbers and will be returned for proper completion.

MFA Funding of Lodge Requests

The MFA is established to contribute additional funds to money raised by Masonic Lodges and not individual Lodge members.

Funds raised by Lodges should be forwarded to the MFA together with the appropriate information. The MFA will, after consideration of the request, contribute additional funds as it sees appropriate and issue a cheque in the name of the recipient charity. The MFA will not retro-actively increase funding to donations made directly by a Lodge to any charitable cause.

Note the MFA does not commit to ‘match’ all funds raised by Alberta Masonic Lodges. The level of funding will depend up availability of funds and will be solely at the discretion of the MFA Board.

Canada Revenue Agency rules require that MFA only make donations to qualified Donees as defined by Canada Revenue Agency. Lodge(s) making the application for funding should ensure that the Beneficiaries of the Funding are qualified Donees as described by CRA.

Currently those include : a registered charity; a registered Canadian amateur athletic association; a listed housing corporation; a listed Canadian municipality; a listed municipal or public body performing a function of government in Canada; a listed university outside Canada that is prescribed to be a university, the student body of which ordinarily includes students from Canada; a listed charitable organization outside Canada to which Her Majesty in right of Canada has made a gift; Her Majesty in right of Canada or a province; and the United Nations and its agencies. However Lodges should ensure that their chosen beneficiaries qualify for funding, as the rules may be modified from time to time.
